This HaBO was sent in by Wizard Karate, who is hoping to find this historical romance: I’m copy-pasting a request I posted on r/romancebooks yesterday and someone suggested I should try this site. The book I can’t remember is an historical romance I read a couple of years ago… So the plot goes something like this: Heroine is married to an evil man (duh) but she feels attracted to their mansion’s gardener, the hero of the story (I don’t really remember if he was a gardener or another sort of employee). She is very rich and he is poor. Hero has an accident while working so he ends up being cared for at the heroine’s house. I don’t exactly remember how but the thing is that the evil husband wants her to become pregnant with the gardener (or whatever he was lol) so he forces her to have an affair with him while he’s recovering at their mansion. And then, well, the usual, heroine and hero fall in love, she gets pregnant, love wins, and yada yada. I’m not sure if I may have possibly mixed up two historical romances, I don’t think so…? I read this book last year…

Ancillary Justice Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie is $3.99! This is part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals! I know Carrie really loves this book (and the entire series, I believe). It’s also a Hugo Award winner! Readers really loved the scifi world building, though some admitted wanting more action in the first book of the Imperial Radch series. Winner of the Hugo, Nebula, British Science Fiction, Locus and Arthur C. Clarke Awards.   On a remote, icy planet, the soldier known as Breq is drawing closer to completing her quest. Once, she was the Justice of Toren – a colossal starship with an artificial intelligence linking thousands of soldiers in the service of the Radch, the empire that conquered the galaxy. Now, an act of treachery has ripped it all away, leaving her with one fragile human body, unanswered questions, and a burning desire for vengeance. This a romantic comedy inspired by How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Readers seemed to love the hero, but weren’t exactly sold…

This HaBO is from Kate who is looking for this contemporary romance: This was a book I read in the 90s or early aughts. It may have been part of an anthology. He was a professional athlete. She was a bookish and attractive kindergarten teacher. Her name might have been Violet or something flowery. She wants to have a baby. She goes on a lake sailing/boating date with some guy while wearing an American flag bikini and falls overboard. She gets picked up by the athlete in his boat. He decides to help her with the baby project, au naturel, at his condo. They develop a relationship, but one of them gets an attorney involved to deal with parenting stuff, and it creates a trust issue. They work it out. Sound familiar?

B+ The Return by Rachel Harrison March 24, 2020 · Berkley Horror Oh guys, I cannot handle creepy books, and this was a creepy book, and not a romance, and also gross and scary. It was also a book that I devoured in a single day and could not get out of my mind. I was sold on this book by the promise of feminist horror, and that’s what I got, so if feminist horror is your jam then you will probably like this book about four friends and a very bad hotel. Once upon a time, Mae, Molly, Elise, and Julie became friends at college. They don’t have much in common other than finely honed sarcasm skills and trauma in their past. Of the four friends, Elise (the book’s narrator) and Julie are the closest. So when Julie disappears while on a hike and is presumed dead, Elise is sure that Julie is still alive. Surely, Elise thinks, she would feel it if Julie died. Points to Elise, because two years after disappearing Julie turns up with our old friend amnesia (or, as I like to say, AMNESIA!). Shortly after Julie’s return, Mae and Molly decide that what they…
