This HaBO request is from Maria, who is looking for this time travel romance: The hero is a man who lost his memory and was adopted by a nobleman. He never recovered his memory and now works for the English Crown, catching French spies during the Napoleonic Wars. The heroine was founded almost drowned on the beach of the same nobleman who adopted the hero, and the nobleman helps her. The hero suspects the heroine could be a spy for Napoleon. At the end, the hero discovered that he has travelled in time like heroine. The hero gives his name as James Bond, because it’s the only thing he remembers from his time. Who knows this one? I feel like we had a “James Bond” HaBO previously.

Wilde in Love Wilde in Love by Eloisa James is $1.99! This is the first book in The Wildes of Lindow Castle. Some readers DNF-ed this on Goodreads citing lack of chemistry between the characters or boredom. However, other fans of James  were excited about this new series. Which camp are you in? Lord Alaric Wilde, son of the Duke of Lindow, is the most celebrated man in England, revered for his dangerous adventures and rakish good looks. Arriving home from years abroad, he has no idea of his own celebrity until his boat is met by mobs of screaming ladies. Alaric escapes to his father’s castle, but just as he grasps that he’s not only famous but notorious, he encounters the very private, very witty, Miss Willa Ffynche. Willa presents the façade of a serene young lady to the world. Her love of books and bawdy jokes is purely for the delight of her intimate friends. She wants nothing to do with a man whose private life is splashed over every newspaper. Alaric has never met a woman he wanted for his own . . . until he meets Willa. He’s never lost a battle. But a spirited woman like Willa…

This HaBO comes from Gullan, who is searching for this book with paranormal elements: I really could use your help finding a paranormal I read a few years ago and want to reread. I don’t think this book could be classified as a romance since it doesn’t have a HEA, but it’s a paranormal shifter book. It’s a newish one, not published earlier than 2015 I think. The heroine of the story is a dragon shifter, but she and her sister need to hide this since they are on the run from their family. I believe female dragons were very few and badly abused/used as broodmares. The heroine had some sort of soul mate, a fey who was the boss or prince of a fey family or something, but she ran away from him because she had to hide her shifter abilities. When they meet again, they have sex since they crave it, but none of them is happy about it. He’s very possessive though. I distinctly remember the ending: the heroine has to shift to fight but doesn’t shift back, instead she roams the world as a dragon. A couple months later she comes back to her “soul mate”…

B+ Jane Austen’s Ghost by Jennifer Kloester October 29, 2019 · Overlord Publishing Mystery/ThrillerRomanceScience Fiction/Fantasy Jane Austen’s Ghost is a ghost story and a mystery of sorts, with romantic and historical elements. There is a satisfying romance in the middle, and there is a lot of humour, but, as befits a ghost story, there will be parts that make you cry, too. It’s quite a gentle, comforting sort of story to read and comes together in a very satisfying way at the end. I enjoyed it a lot. The story begins with a prologue in which Jane Austen refuses a proposal from a suitor who frankly makes Mr Collins look like a bit of a catch. The Reverend James Stainier Clarke, however, is disinclined to take no for an answer, and when Jane finally manages to persuade him that she is serious, he turns to magic to get his way. He places a curse on Jane that will somehow bind her to him. It is not clear precisely whether this succeeds, but she certainly is bound to the Phantasmal Realm (which exists between the Terrestrial and Celestial Realms) as a ghost. The story now enters the modern era, where we…
