This HaBO comes from Rebecca, who is trying to find a paranormal romance or a book with paranormal elements: The novel starts in America. The heroine agrees to take a young girl to England to live with her grandfather. The heroine wants to go to help her sister find the father of her baby. He is supposedly an English Officer. Girl refuses to go to England and runs away, so the heroine dresses as her (15 or 16 year old) and she, her sister, and grandmother go to London. She has to pretend to be young, while her sister does not really try very hard to find the father of her kid. The hero is suspicious of the family as they are from American South and there have been some sneaky stuff happening in London by southern sympathizers. He tries to get close to he family and takes them to a botanical garden and makes the heroine ride a carousel. He’s embarrassed that he is attracted to her and she is so young. He follows her a few times and sees her doing some questionable things. Like going to a church and a book store, but asking things in a…

Forever Wolf SERIES SALE: Forever Wolf by Maria Vale is $2.99! I love this series and this is the last book in the trilogy. Vale does some inventive things with werewolf/shifter mythology and the sense of place is incredibly detailed. Reading out of order is possible, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Lucky for you, the first book is FREE and the second is only $1.99! Born with one blue eye and one green, Eyulf was abandoned as an infant and has never understood why, or what he is…Varya is fiercely loyal to the Great North Pack, which took her in when she was a teenager. While out on patrol, Varya finds Eyulf wounded and starving and saves his life, at great risk to her own. Legend says his eyes portend the end of the world…or perhaps, the beginning… With old and new enemies threatening the Great North, Varya knows as soon as she sees his eyes that she must keep Eyulf hidden away from the superstitious wolves who would doom them both. Until the day they must fight to the death for the Pack’s survival, side by side and heart to heart… Add to Goodreads To-Read List → You can find ordering…

This HaBO comes from Rebecca, who is trying to find a paranormal romance or a book with paranormal elements: This book was reviewed or recommended, perhaps in the comments in the last couple of years. I read the sample in kindle, but didn’t put it on a wish list or buy it. It was a modern day werewolf story, where werewolves were sequestered and werewolfism was a recessive genetic issue. So you might have a werewolf great grandparent and not realize you were one until you got in a high stress situation, then you had to go into a hidden werewolf town. There was a single dad whose daughter was going into kindergarten and he reassured her that everything would be all right, but she got stressed and turned into a werewolf puppy and was taken away. Her dad gets a secret map to the werewolf town she is in and goes to confront the people who took her. Do you remember this book? Googling werewolf kindergarten doesn’t help. I don’t think we reviewed this, but it definitely may have appeared in the comments.

Squee Silver in the Wood by Emily Tesh June 18, 2019 · Tor.com LGBTQIANovellaScience Fiction/Fantasy Silver in the Wood by Emily Tesh is a gorgeous novella that feels somewhere between fairy tale and myth, only it’s the kind of myth that is probably true. One comes away from reading it with the feeling that yes, this is what happens in the woods, and also feeling both eager and afraid to go for a walk in the woods and perhaps lose oneself there. It’s very hard to say much about the story without spoiling it, but I’ll try. Tobias has been the Wild Man of Greenhollow Wood for four hundred years now, protecting the Wood from the local people, and the local people from the things that dwell in the Wood. These include smaller spirits like dryads, both friendly and otherwise, and more dangerous creatures like the Summer King. Tobias is very much part of the Wood himself, and though he certainly started life as a human he is not, quite, human and mortal at this point. To local villagers, he is a creature out of myth himself, and someone to fear. And then one day Henry Silver, the lord of…
