This HaBO request comes from Christina, who is hoping to find this historical romance. CW/TW for the description below: I am in the hunt for the title of a historical I read a few years ago. It’s either Regency or Victorian. It starts out with the heroine on the day after she gets married. The hero finds her washed up on the shore of a river the day after her wedding night, where her new husband tried to kill her and dispose of her body by throwing her overboard of their river barge. I can’t remember if she has no memory of the previous night, or if she just doesn’t want to tell the hero for fear he’ll return her to the husband. The hero tries to get her back home or to town, while trying to get her to remember things. I think there’s a class struggle in there. The husband tries to kill the heroine because she’s lower class and was forced to marry for money. Anyone else hope the husband gets what’s coming to him?

Ice Hot Ice Hot by Tracy Goodwin is $1.99! This is a hockey romance and Elyse enjoyed this one and gave it a B. However, she does issue some content warnings, so be sure to read over the review first. Ice Hot was a sexy celebrity romance with an emotionally fluent hero and a terrific heroine. The Nighthawks are hockey’s new expansion team. They’re ice hot. And they’re all about the chase. Christian: They call me a hockey god because I’m a beast on the ice . . . and off. Men want to be me and women just want me. But now that the New York Nighthawks expect me to lead their team to victory, it’s all work and no play. My eyes are on the prize. Until I meet Serena Ellis, a sexy, curvalicious blonde who doesn’t know me from jack. And just like that, I’m hooked. Serena: I don’t do one-night stands—especially with celebrity jocks who date models. Lots of models. But the god of hockey is a temptation that’s hard for mere mortals to resist. And after the best kiss of my life, I’m ready to throw my one-night stand rule out the window. Except Christian Chase won’t let…

Squee Evvie Drake Starts Over by Linda Holmes June 25, 2019 · Ballantine Books Contemporary RomanceRomance This guest review is from Lisa the Librarian. Yes, I’m a librarian, and yes, being surrounded by books all day long is great. But it’s not “I-can-just-read-all-day” great as many people seem to assume. Oh, how I wish that were a thing! I would spend my days reading Regencies, funny contemporaries, cowboy romances, and all the other beautiful books I see every day. My favorite authors include Loretta Chase, Tessa Dare, Kristan Higgins, Eloisa James, Lisa Kleypas, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Julia Quinn, Jill Shalvis, and Maisey Yates. … CONTENT WARNINGS: emotional abuse, death of former spouse (widowed heroine)   This might be a short review. I don’t know how many different ways I can say I love this book. Eveleth “Evvie” Drake is leaving her husband, Tim. This is not a spoiler. The first line of the book is “Go now, or you’ll never go, Evvie warned herself.” But as she is packing her car, she gets a phone call telling her that Tim has been in a car accident. He dies before she even gets to the hospital. The book then skips forward almost a year. Her…

HaBO: Jane and Sandy

This HaBO is from Cindy, who is searching for a long lost romance novel: I’m hoping that the Bitchery can work their magic. I grew up in Trinidad and Tobago in the late 80s and 90s, so the romance books available were eclectic to say the least. Sadly my entire collection got thrown out by my religious grandmother in the pre-internet days and my Google skills have been rather dismal in this case. The book I’m searching for had a grey border on its cover, I believe. The main couple were called Jane and Sandy. She was a librarian in search of her scientist brother and she mistakenly thought Sandy was the criminal he was defending. She went to him for help, navigating the criminal underworld and he played along. One part had him dressed up in punk leather at a club. Eventually they found the brother, but instead of hiding away working on his top secret formula that the bad guys were after, he had become a carrot farmer. This was one of the first novels I had read that had this irresistible (for me) combination of sarcasm, absurdity, mistaken identity and romance. I know nostalgia has greatly heightened…

We will be testing a new and nifty feature of the site, and are looking for 40 fine folks to help us test it out. Interested? Please sign up! You’ll be asked to log in to a new area of the site we’ve been working on (seriously, I’m so excited, because it is SO COOL and I cannot wait to share it with everyone). You’ll try to use it, and try to break it if you’re feeling like virtual demolition derby is your thing, and we’ll need you to tell us what you think, what works, what doesn’t, and whatever else you’d like to say. Testing will be during the week of July 8. We’re looking for 40 volunteers, so the form below will close after 40 entries, and we will be in touch with details on what to do and where to do it. You can be located anywhere in the world – no geo restrictions required. Grab your hard hats, and thank you in advance for volunteering! (I am so flipping excited about this new feature, I can’t even tell you. It’s gonna be so great.) Name (or screen name – we're not picky) * Email * Comment…
