This HaBO comes from Barbara, who is looking for a historical romance: It isn’t much, but here’s what I remember. I think it’s a series. Perhaps set during the Regency period. Many characters are reading a series of novels about a woman who finds herself in outlandishly dramatic and dangerous situations. One of the characters in the series—I think it’s a man—is secretly the author of these novels. In one scene in particular, one of the characters in the series gives a dramatic reading from one of the silly novels while standing on a small table that I think breaks under his weight. I can’t remember the name of the series, the book, or even the author. Secret authorship isn’t entirely uncommon in historical romances, but perhaps the scene mentioned will jog some memories.

Kings of the Wyld RECOMMENDED: Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and is being price-matched. Queen Beverly Jenkins recommended this one on a previous podcast: The book is amazing! It’s laugh-out-loud funny in some parts. The writing is wonderful. Clay Cooper and his band were once the best of the best — the meanest, dirtiest, most feared crew of mercenaries this side of the Heartwyld. Their glory days long past, the mercs have grown apart and grown old, fat, drunk – or a combination of the three. Then an ex-bandmate turns up at Clay’s door with a plea for help. His daughter Rose is trapped in a city besieged by an enemy one hundred thousand strong and hungry for blood. Rescuing Rose is the kind of mission that only the very brave or the very stupid would sign up for. It’s time to get the band back together for one last tour across the Wyld. This HaBO request is from Sophia. She’s looking for a romance, that may have been young adult or new adult: I am looking for a book I remember picking up at a library between 3 and 5 years ago. The book looked like it nay have been published several years before I picked it up so 2008-2015? The book was a YA or maybe new adult. The book opens with the heroine sending a young man whom she just had sex with on his way. Apparently she is known for having sex with virgin guys and only virgin guys. This was because she had some sort of bad experience with her first time, and she wants other girls to not have that experience. Therefore the heroine ‘educates’ young men on sex and how to make it good for a woman. I didn’t get beyond the first chapter or two, but I’ve been thinking about it for days and really want to find it again. Thanks for the help. The setup reminds me slightly of the movie Easy A, which I thought was fantastic. God bless, Stanley Tucci.

B+ Kingdom of Exiles by Maxym Martineau June 25, 2019 · Sourcebooks Casablanca Fantasy/Fairy Tale RomanceRomanceScience Fiction/Fantasy CW/TW: Self-harm and torture Kingdom of Exiles is the first book in a brand new fantasy romance series. The cool-as-heck, magical beast premise delivers and though there is definitely a romance, I will warn it’s a slow, slow burn. Leena Edenfrell is an exiled beast charmer, but she hopes to return home after taming a Myad. A Myad is a big ol’ winged cat that requires the blood of a murderer to be tamed. It also assesses your heart and must deem you worthy before it’ll allow itself to be tamed. If she’s able to tame this beast, Leena believes the Charmer Council will have to hear her out and appeal her exile. Unfortunately, there’s a bounty on her head. I hate it when that happens. The Cruor, a guild of undead assassins, have been contracted to kill Leena. When Leena bests one of their assassins, she seeks to make a deal. Remove the bounty and she’ll gift them four beasts of their choosing. Noc, the guild leader, agrees to this, but still has plans to doublecross her because not fulfilling the bounty…
