Scandal Wears Satin Scandal Wears Satin by Loretta Chase is 99c! This is the second book in The Dressmakers series, and the first one is $1.99. Readers loved the heroine in this one, but felt that hero was..not great. If you’ve read this one, tell us your thoughts! From the Journals of Sophia Noirot: A dress is a weapon. It must dazzle his eye, raise his temperature . . . and empty his purse. A blue-eyed innocent on the outside and a shark on the inside, dressmaker Sophy Noirot could sell sand to Bedouins. Selling Maison Noirot’s beautiful designs to aristocratic ladies is a little harder, especially since a recent family scandal has made an enemy of one of society’s fashion leaders. Turning scandal to the shop’s advantage requires every iota of Sophy’s manipulative skills, leaving her little patience for big, reckless rakes like the Earl of Longmore. The gorgeous lummox can’t keep more than one idea in his head at a time, and his idea is taking off all of Sophy’s clothes. But when Longmore’s sister, Noirot’s wealthiest, favorite customer, runs away, Sophy can’t let him bumble after her on his own. In hot pursuit with the one man who tempts her…

Ed note: This post is from Aarya, whose writing you might have read over the past few weeks. She’s joining us as a reviewer (yay!) and this post is her introduction to the community, and is about her introduction to romance as a genre. We hope you enjoy! (And please note: if you  applied to join us, we are still working through all the applications. There were so many, and we are incredibly thankful for your interest. Thank you for your patience!) In the Romancelandia online community, I’ve noticed that a popular discussion topic is a reader’s first romance: the book/author that introduced or made them fall in love with the genre. A less common discussion topic is the person who gave them their first romance novel. Perhaps you discovered romance novels by yourself, but more likely someone recommended a book to you – your mom, your sister, or a friend. Books are everything to me, not just because of the words on the page, but because the relationships in my life are defined by books. This essay is about how how my sister gave me my first romance novel. I’m not prone to walks down Nostalgia Lane, but perhaps…

YOU. GUYS. STOP THE PRESSES. I have found the Romance Wanderlust of my dreams. As ever, this is not a review nor an endorsement, I was just googling and went “Oh my Goodness I have to go here.” But I have not gone. Yet. North Shire Holiday Retreat is a collection of cottages, caravans, and campgrounds on the moors, near the town of town of Whitby in the UK. All I needed to know about Whitby is that it’s on the ocean (I like the ocean) and it’s home to The Museum of Victorian Science. I really don’t know what more one can ask from life. It is also near Danby Village, site of a ruined castle (!!!) and the Moors National Park Centre. Whitby – note ruined Abbey in background North Shire specializes in themed buildings. They have a cottage modeled after a hobbit hole (it’s called the Shire House). They also just opened a Ground Keeper’s Cottage which is modeled after Hagrid’s Hut but has better housekeeping. Magical creatures are not included, but the Shire Hole and the Ground Keeper’s cottage both have lovely views of moor and sea, and abound with clever touches to enhance the ambiance…
