This HaBO request is from Kat, who is searching for this sports romance: I’m struggling to remember a contemporary romance novel featuring a British heroine. Here’s where my memory fails me: I don’t remember if she was a sports agent or a public relations exec. She meets the hero as part of her job (to kind of ground/reprimand a sports team). They get into a reluctant friendship since she wants to avoid diatribes about her sleeping with the team or in order to ascend the career ladder. The hero does break down her walls, they sleep together, yada yada happy ending. I’m sorry if this is quite vague–I don’t remember many pertinent details, especially the sports featured in the novel. I do remember it being set in the US. Thanks again for all your help! Brit heroine. Sports romance. U.S. soil.

The Trouble with Dukes The Trouble with Dukes by Grace Burrowes is $99c! There seems to be some Beauty and the Beast elements to this, with an intimidating hero and a heroine who doesn’t mind all of his scary gossip. This begins the new Windham Brides series. Some of the readers thought everything was wrapped up too quickly, but others loved the heroine. Have you read this one? THEY CALL HIM THE DUKE OF MURDER… The gossips whisper that the new Duke of Murdoch is a brute, a murderer, and even worse—a Scot. They say he should never be trusted alone with a woman. But Megan Windham sees in Hamish something different, someone different. No one was fiercer at war than Hamish MacHugh, though now the soldier faces a whole new battlefield: a London Season. To make his sisters happy, he’ll take on any challenge—even letting their friend Miss Windham teach him to waltz. Megan isn’t the least bit intimidated by his dark reputation, but Hamish senses that she’s fighting battles of her own. For her, he’ll become the warrior once more, and for her, he might just lose his heart. Add to Goodreads To-Read List → You can find ordering info for…

This HaBO comes from Geraldine, who is looking for a contemporary romance: I read this book about 7 years ago, but I think it was used at that time. The hero comes through town (in a truck?) and meets the waitress at a local truck stop. It is very bad weather, so he comes home with her. Several months later, he comes to the restaurant again and she is pregnant with his child. He is flabbergasted, says something stupid, and she dumps a pitcher of cold water on him. He convinces her to come home to his ranch with him (he is very well to do). However, his mother is very mean about the situation and hires a private investigator. He is furious she is upsetting the heroine and throws his mom out of the house. Very passive dad tells off his wife. That is really all I remember, except it ends happily. And I think it was is one of the Harlequin lines, or maybe Signature – can’t remember which line exactly. I know this isn’t a lot of info, but I’d really like to find this book again! Thanks for your help! Who knows this one?

C- Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey June 11, 2019 · Avon Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey is the first book in a new contemporary romance series about the inhabitants of Port Jefferson, Long Island. It has cute small town vibes, renovation elements, and a fake relationship. While Bailey’s writing and the fake relationship trope were what drew me to this book, my enjoyment was greatly offset by a trope that is my anti-catnip: the off limits best friend’s sister. Baseball player Travis Ford has returned home to Port Jefferson to hide out and essentially wallow in self-pity after experiencing a career ending injury, but his best friend’s little sister Georgie Castle refuses to let him be a sad sack. Their reunion consists of Georgie storming into his gross apartment and flinging expired lo mein at his bare ass. It’s a great start. Georgie is the youngest of three siblings and though she’s now twenty-three, she feels like she’s still the “little kid.” No one takes her seriously as an entrepreneur who owns her birthday clown business. In fact, no one takes her seriously as a woman at all, especially not the man of her dreams, Travis Ford. Travis…
