The Duchess Deal RECOMMENDED: The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare is $1.99! This is the first book in the Girl Meets Duke series. Elyse really loved this book and gave it an A grade: I totally recommend reading The Duchess Deal, but preferably while sober so you can really appreciate all of it. It’s the perfect blend of two of my favorite fairytale tropes, it’s got a hero who never an alpha-hole, it’s funny, and it’s got female friendship. What more could you want? When girl meets Duke, their marriage breaks all the rules…  Since his return from war, the Duke of Ashbury’s to-do list has been short and anything but sweet: brooding, glowering, menacing London ne’er-do-wells by night. Now there’s a new item on the list. He needs an heir—which means he needs a wife. When Emma Gladstone, a vicar’s daughter turned seamstress, appears in his library wearing a wedding gown, he decides on the spot that she’ll do. His terms are simple: – They will be husband and wife by night only. – No lights, no kissing. – No questions about his battle scars. – Last, and most importantly… Once she’s pregnant with his heir, they need never share a bed again. But Emma is…

C+ Anything But a Duke by Christy Carlyle April 30, 2019 · Avon Historical: EuropeanRomance Anything But a Duke is a heartwarming romance that suffers from a lack of compelling conflict. The heroine is an inventor. The hero worked his way up from poverty in a Dickensian manner. There is banter, there is food, there are clothes. It’s enjoyable but largely forgettable. The story begins in 1845, which places it in the Victorian Era and amid the Industrial Revolution. Aidan Iverson grew up in the workhouse where his mother left him and his sister. He ran away, promising his sister that he would come back for her, and proceeded to amass a tidy fortune in business. Although he’s respected in society, he feels he won’t be TRULY respected until he has a connection to a title, which he can get by marrying a titled woman. He’s also trying to find his birth mother and his sister. Meanwhile, Diana Ashby, an inventor, is desperate to sell her latest invention (a vacuum cleaner!) because her family is struggling financially. She wants Aidan’s financial backing. Diana’s family has “a baronetcy that passed to my uncle,” which isn’t going to be enough for Aidan’s…

Ready for another Rec League? I am, because this one is my own personal request! For some reason, I’ve been in the mood to read survival romances where the main couple must battle nature and the elements. I’m not looking for survival in terms of a human force, but more of an environment. I know there are more than my brain is remembering. Sarah:  The one by that Ally person where the president’s daughter is in Alaska. NOT IF I SAVE YOU FIRST! ( A | BN | K | G | AB ) Good job, brain. The Alyssa Cole series also, Radio Silence et al. ( A | BN | K | G | AB ) Amanda: I want to note that watching Sarah’s brain connect dots in real time is always a delight. What survival romances would you recommend? Tell us in the comments!
